Jrue Holiday MRI Comes Back Clean

Oct 20, 2021 8:54 AM

When Jrue Holiday left the Milwaukee Bucks season opener with right heel soreness, there was cause for concern. Following the game, Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said Holiday already had an MRI and that the results were encouraging. Budenholzer said, "Everything's good, positive" when asked about Holiday.

The injury designation is a heel contusion for Holiday. It's unknown how much time, if any, Milwaukee's lead guard will miss.

Holiday exited after playing only 18 minutes in the opener. He was effective in those minutes, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, but did seem to move gingerly at points.

Jon Horst, Bucks Sign Multi-Year Extension

Oct 15, 2021 12:22 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed general manager Jon Horst to a multi-year contract extension.

Since taking over as general manager in 2017, Horst has restructured the Bucks’ basketball operations by reimagining roles, responsibilities and processes of the team’s front office staff, and has executed key roster decisions that have turned the Bucks into a consistent contender and the 2021 NBA Champions.

In his four seasons as general manager, the Bucks have made the playoffs all four seasons, which included two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals, an NBA Finals appearance and the team’s first NBA title in 50 years. In addition, over the last three seasons, the Bucks have owned the top regular season record (162-65) and have the most playoff wins (31) in the NBA.

“Jon’s preparedness, decision-making and leadership have been instrumental in the Bucks’ success during his tenure, and he has earned this extension,” said Bucks owners Marc Lasry, Wes Edens and Jamie Dinan. “We appreciate Jon’s hard work and creativity and are excited that he will continue to lead our basketball operations for years to come.”

“I am blessed and excited to continue with the Bucks,” Horst said. “Thank you to Marc, Wes and Jamie for your continued confidence and trust in me and for giving us the resources to be successful. We have the best ownership in sports, and I’m humbled to work with you. I also want to express my deep appreciation to my great partners and friends, Peter Feigin and Coach Bud, as we continue building sustainable success in Milwaukee. My executive team, led by Milt Newton, is incredible, and I appreciate your support and dedication every day.

“To our players, I’m grateful for your trust, commitment, and belief, and for working incredibly hard to get better every day. You are the reason I get to live my dream, and my family and I are forever grateful. Milwaukee is our home. Go Bucks!”

Giannis Antetokounmpo Still Dealing With Knee Soreness

Oct 4, 2021 8:51 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently told reporters that he's still dealing with some soreness in his left knee. Antetokounmpo suffered a hyperextension in in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks. He continued to play and led Milwaukee to the championship in six games over the Phoenix Suns.

Antetokounmpo told a television station in Greece that he's "still hurting". The two-time MVP added that he feels good to start the season, as the Bucks defend their NBA title.

At this point, it's unknown if the soreness will cause Antetokounmpo to miss any games. It is expected that Milwaukee will manage minutes for their veterans players throughout the regular season. This is especially true early in the season after a long playoff run and a shortened offseason.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Reveals His Left Knee Still Not 100 Percent

Oct 1, 2021 3:27 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently revealed that the left knee he hyperextended in the Eastern Conference Finals is "still hurting."

This week, he clarified what he meant by the comments.

“I feel good,” Antetokounmpo said. “Obviously, I gotta do my treatment like always. Take care of my body and just manage it. There’s no rush for me here. I’m good to go, but if I feel pain again or whatever the case might be, I have to listen to my body. When you feel pain, it’s your body telling you. It’s protecting you. You can’t go anymore. I’ve played through pain. I don’t think now is the time to risk that. It’s too early in the season, but at the end of the day, I feel good physically, mentally. I’ll do whatever I have to do to be 100 percent.”
