Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Orlando guard/forward Mike Miller, the NBA Rookie of the Year last season, will not be a part of any trade the Magic make before next season begins, according to General Manager John Gabriel.

The Magic have closed the options on everything involving Miller, which effectively dims any hopes of landing Davis unless he decides to accept a deal for the $4.5 million salary-cap exception, which is less than half of what could get elsewhere.

Gabriel said that Brendan Haywood would join the team today. He also dismissed the earlier report that the Magic would not make a contract offer to Haywood, preferring to save salary-cap space. Gabriel said all three Magic rookies, including Steven Hunter and Jeryl Sasser, would receive contract offers before the July 15 deadline.
