Ken Hornack of the Daytona News-Journal reports: When the Orlando Magic announced Wednesday their signing of Patrick Ewing, coach Doc Rivers expressed confidence that the core of their roster from last season would remain intact.

However that hasn't been the case.  John Amaechi signed with Utah and now Orlando is turning their attention to Don Reid and Andrew DeClercq.

Hornack also reports that Grant Hill has been able to cut and jump with so little pain in his left ankle during workouts that he doesn't need to ice down the injury anymore.
Hill underwent surgery 6 months ago in Baltimore to repair a broken bone on the inside of the ankle.
