Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports: For now, the Heat will not sign a veteran point guard. If that changes, ex-Nugget Robert Pack would be a top candidate. Pack remains unsigned, and the Heat has kept in contact with his agent. Others unsigned include Sherman Douglas, Matt Maloney and Doug Overton.
Philadelphia and Milwaukee have offered former Heat forward Anthony Mason $1 million, but Mason's agent said that's not enough. Several Bucks are angry with management for not agreeing to Mason's demand for a four-year deal starting at $4.5 million. ``If this team wants to get where it wants to be, Anthony Mason is the player we need,'' Bucks guard Sam Cassell said.
