HONOLULU -- Coaching legend Pete Newell was a spectator at the Warriors practice Saturday afternoon, checking up on several players who have attended his Big Man's camp in recent years. But of all the players who have come through his camp, very few rank as high on his list as Warriors forward Antawn Jamison.
"Antawn joined an elite level with what he did last year," said Newell, who is in Hawaii on his way to Japan to participate in a coaching clinic. "He didn't have a lot of other guys last year and he got so many double-teams and he still figured out how to score 50 points in back-to-back games. His star is still rising. He has a great understanding of where he is as a player and where he wants to be. The sky is the limit for him. He isn't satisfied and he has the desire to learn."
