Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports: Michael Jordan disappointed fans Wednesday afternoon, then delighted them a few hours later when he announced he would play in the Washington Wizards' first two preseason games -- tonight at Detroit, and Saturday at Miami.

Earlier in the day, Jordan said he would not play in either game ``because physically, I'm still working to get my wind, my legs underneath me, and I think I can gain more from that than exhibition games.''

But then Jordan, perhaps succumbing to pressure, said, ``After I made my first announcement, I realize many fans purchased tickets to these games to see me in my return. I didn't want fans to be disappointed.''

Jordan expects to start both games, but his minutes will be limited. Jordan's reversal pleased Heat coach Pat Riley: ``I want to see him play, and I'm sure the fans do.''

Fewer than 1,000 seats remain for Saturday's 7:30 p.m. game at AmericanAirlines Arena. The $5 balcony seats are not available. Channel 33 will televise the game.
