Byron Scott keeps telling people how the Nets will be a better team this season with Jason Kidd as the point guard, as opposed to last year, with Stephon Marbury. But at least last season, the Nets knew they had veteran Sherman Douglas backing up Marbury.

Because Douglas wasn't re-signed when his contract expired over the summer, Scott doesn't have that kind of safety net at the point for those 10-12 minutes when he is forced to rest Kidd. And that could turn out to be a concern over an 82-game season.
