Wednesday, October 17, 2001 - DALLAS - The Denver Nuggets should learn today how many weeks swingman Calbert Cheaney will miss as a result of his sprained right knee.
Cheaney, who is having an MRI performed today in Denver, sustained the injury after he landed awkwardly Monday at Milwaukee.
The 6-foot-7, 217-pounder had less swelling Tuesday, but he is expected to miss the start of the regular season. Cheaney was examined by Nuggets doctor Steve Traina on Tuesday night. Cheaney missed 58 games to injury last season.
"He's had one thing after another," Nuggets coach Dan Issel said. "We'll get it fixed and hopefully he won't be out too long."
