Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Memo to NBA Commissioner David Stern: Magic Coach Doc Rivers suggests the preseason should be downsized considerably. "Five [games]," Rivers said. "Six is pushing it. Six is enough, but five to me is the number."

The Magic (2-2) are almost halfway through their nine-game exhibition schedule. Rivers is concerned that key players get injured during the tune-ups. Magic guard Tracy McGrady twisted his back Sunday night and missed Wednesday night's game.

"Although I will say that after three [preseason] games, we're not ready," said Rivers, noting that Orlando is trying to fit in three new starters. "But next year, we won't need all those games after we've been playing together."
