When Antonio Davis played for the Indiana Pacers, he was a valuable backup forward.

Two years later, he appears to have become the hinge on which a franchise turned.

Davis, who played his first six NBA seasons with the Pacers, was one of the league's premier free agents over the summer.

He openly courted Orlando, where he owns an off-season home, but the Magic were unable to offer him his market value. He then turned his attention to Chicago, because his wife Kendra had grown up in the area, but negotiations with the Bulls turned bitter.

He finally re-signed with the Raptors, for $60 million over five seasons.
