As his team continues to evolve, Heat coach Pat Riley offered neither apologies for the addition of Rod Strickland nor any indications that he is finished tweaking his roster.

"When you're rebuilding on the run and also wanting to win with the expectations being high, I have to have a little bit of perspective there," Riley said Monday, before his team faced the Minnesota Timberwolves in an exhibition at Target Center.

Such perspective has meant accepting Strickland, offcourt warts and all, as well as certain concessions to what had been the initial game plan for this season.

"Forget about all the other things I might have said about what I want to do with my backcourt, the youth and all that stuff. That is totally irrelevant," he said of Sunday's signing of the 35-year-old point guard. "That is where we are at this moment, right now."
