Afterward, the Nuggets learned they would be playing with him.

The Nuggets acquired Williams and a first-round draft choice from the Bucks in a three-team trade that involved Houston. In exchange for the 6-foot-10, 245-pound center-forward, the Nuggets sent Milwaukee center-forward Kevin Willis, who then was dealt to the Rockets.
