Friday, November 02, 2001 - Three Olympic gold medalists were among the seven players selected Thursday to play on the 12-member U.S. team that will compete next summer at the world championships in Indianapolis.
But Denver Nuggets forward Antonio McDyess, recovering from a knee injury that may keep him off the court until February, wasn't among them. According to sources familiar with the selection process, McDyess has indicated he wants to play in the tournament, which is Aug. 29 through Sept. 8, and likely would have been among the players already selected if he hadn't been injured.
