Tracy McGrady should have played in street clothes.
Maybe that would have helped his game. It certainly could not have hurt. Yes, he was woeful. And the one-two punch must have been out to lunch.
The Indiana Pacers made easy work of the disappointing Orlando Magic 117-107, a sobering reminder that being a contender isn't as easy as all those preseason predictions make it sound.
McGrady and co-star Grant Hill, who looked surprisingly in sync in Tuesday's home opener, played like strangers Friday, dragging down the team they are expected to lead.
"It was a night when everything on the court went wrong. That was the worst I've ever played. If it ever gets worse than that, oh my God, sit me down." McGrady said. "I don't know why it happened, but I'm glad we play again tomorrow."
McGrady and Hill, who had 23 and 22 points, respectively, in the opener, combined for 24 points and six turnovers Friday. They made only seven-of-22 shots.
