Smith has a record from 'longest' range
Steve Smith tied an NBA record by making all eight of his 3-point attempts Saturday night, but he stands alone in one category.
Jeff Hornacek (Nov. 3, 1994) and Sam Perkins (Jan. 15, 1997) {mdash} the only two players to go a perfect 8 for 8 {mdash} accomplished the feat when the 3-point line was just 22 feet at its apex. Prior to the 1997-98 season, the NBA moved the line back to 23 feet, 9 inches.
"Eight for eight?" Malik Rose said. "I don't think I've ever seen anything like that and I've played with Glen Rice and Dell Curry."
The Spurs made 14 3-pointers in Saturday's game, one shy of the franchise record. The 14 treys also tied a Portland opponent record set by Miami on March 14, 1995.
Daniels on mend: Antonio Daniels was feeling better Sunday after getting elbowed in the head Saturday from Dale Davis.
Daniels crumbled to the ground after getting hit by Davis in the second half and looked woozy on the sidelines. Tony Parker took over for Daniels in the fourth quarter and helped the Spurs hold off Portland.
"I was seeing six of everything out there," Daniels said.
