Kings all-star foward Chris Webber received an invitation to compete for the United States in next summer's World Basketball Championships in Indianapolis, but he was unable to agree at this point because of previous familial commitments.
"I hope I'm going to be able to play," Webber said, "but there are a few things I'm going to have to work out that I'd already committed to doing. I hope it's going to work out."
Should Webber play next summer, he'd be facing a number of NBA players representing their countries such as teammates Peja Stojakovic of Yugoslavia and Hedo Turkoglu of Turkey.
