John Denton of the Florida Today reports: X-rays taken Monday morning showed that the chip fracture in Mike Miller's right foot has healed properly, paving the way for the Orlando Magic forward to return to practice Wednesday and possibly play Friday night.

Miller originally injured his foot Oct. 19 while chasing down a loose ball and was told he could be out as much as four weeks. Miller promised that he would return to the court sooner than projected, and he was back working out with the Magic Monday just an hour after his positive X-rays.

"I'm ready to go, ready to practice on Wednesday," said Miller, the only rookie in the NBA to play all 82 games last season. "I'm so ready to get back and hopefully I'll pick up Friday where I left off."

Miller started the season on the Injured List, meaning he had to sit out at least five games. Friday's home game against the Sacramento Kings is the first game Miller will be eligible to play. But Magic coach Doc Rivers tempered Miller's enthusiasm, hinting that he might hold him out until Sunday's game against the Lakers in Los Angeles.

"It's so early, and with a foot injury you just don't want it nagging him," Rivers said. "Otherwise, it's something he'll have to deal with all year."
