Now that he has cashed in with a World Series title as a minority owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Mavericks forward Danny Manning has a message for owner Mark Cuban.
"You can tell Cuban to get a developmental team and a WNBA team and I'll run it for him," Manning said. "Tell him to get an Arena Football League, too."
When Manning was told that an AFL team is on the way, thanks to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, that didn't stop his enthusiasm.
"We don't have to put it in Dallas," the Lawrence, Kan., native said. "Kansas City is right up the road."
With Manning within shouting distance, Cuban said of the investment, "OK, if Danny says so, I'm there. I just want to know how much he's investing, that's all."
To which Manning said: "I'll give you something."
