It's become clear that the center position for the Orlando Magic will boil down to whoever can get you through the night.
In the Magic's 115-105 win against Sacramento on Friday night, it was a committee, chaired by the venerable Horace Grant.
Rookie Steven Hunter was the nominal starter, but it was Grant who took on the heavy-lifting, defending the Kings' Vlade Divac.
It's probably something we'll see more of -- Grant using his wiles, his long experience, his vast knowledge of the opposition to fill a position where the Magic are thin.
Steve Hunter, who started his first game Friday, is a raw rookie, fraught with inconsistency and quick with fouls. He is feeling his way.
Patrick Ewing is old. Andrew DeClercq is, well, Andrew DeClercq.
