Grant Hill was a late scratch Saturday night before the Orlando Magic hosted the Charlotte Hornets, because of a sprained left foot.
Hill was in uniform but did not play after coming up lame during the fourth quarter of the Magic's 109-99 victory Friday night at Charlotte. Mike Miller made his first start of the season in Hill's absence.
The Magic listed Hill's status as day-to-day, meaning chances are good he will be back in action Monday night against his former team, the Detroit Pistons. It would be his first game against them since joining the Magic, so the competitive juices could be flowing more than usual.
"He'll tell you he's beyond that, but he's lying," coach Doc Rivers said.
The Hornets were without Jamal Mashburn, their leading scorer last season, for the fourth game in a row. Mashburn was placed on the injured list Nov. 20 with a lower abdominal strain.
