Point guard Darrell Armstrong knows what the problem is, which is why he feels so bad about it.
It's him -- or at least he thinks it is.
The lack of defense that keeps killing the Orlando Magic runs throughout the lineup, but Armstrong has begun taking it personally because of the position he plays.
"I know everyone thinks this team starts and ends with Tracy [McGrady], but defensively it starts with me and I'm not doing what this team needs," Armstrong said. "I have more responsibility than anyone."
The Magic, riding a three-game losing streak, continue their West Coast swing tonight in Oakland, Calif., against the Golden State Warriors.
"I've always thought the point guard sets the tone for a team defensively," Magic Coach Doc Rivers said. "If he's out there, really pressuring the ball, getting after it, then everyone else picks up on it, and it spreads."
But the only spreading on this trip has been the losing and the inability to stop teams from scoring. The Magic, in reverse order, have lost to a very good team (Sacramento Kings), an average team (Los Angeles Clippers) and a bad team (Atlanta Hawks).
