No sequence better illustrated the positive results the Orlando Magic can enjoy on offense than during a possession late in the third quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.
That possession culminated with a 3-pointer by Mike Miller, but those three points were made possible by a chain of events triggered by a double-team of Tracy McGrady.
McGrady was double-teamed in the left corner. He began a sequence of four passes that put the ball in Miller's hands on the opposite side of the court.
Because of the quick ball movement, the Warriors' defense wasn't able to recover quickly enough from the double-team, and Miller had a wide-open look for his 3-pointer.
This is exactly the kind of offense that Coach Doc Rivers is seeking, not the kind in which he puts the ball in McGrady's hands and the rest of the team stands around and watches.
"We need better ball movement," Rivers said. "When we do that we're a different team because we shoot the ball so well. We like when teams double-team us. When you double-team us, you're playing with fire because we have great shooters."
