Kevin Garnett -- more than Keyshawn Johnson on his best day, every bit as intensely as Jack Morris, Game 7, 1991 -- wanted the damn ball.

Deep into the second quarter of the Timberwolves' 114-94 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night at Target Center, Garnett started going after missed shots like they were doughnuts and he was starving.

Terrell Brandon missed from the right baseline, Garnett ran into the left corner to claim it. Wally Szczerbiak, taking Garnett's pass, missed from the three-point arc and -- even before the ball hit the rim -- Garnett was exploding diagonally across to the right wing to grab it again. He got fouled, went to the line, sank both free throws and knew what he had to keep doing for the next 28 minutes or so.
