Chris Mihm was a highly touted center coming out of the University of Texas in 2000. But he went to a team that already had a good, albeit fragile, center in Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

With Ilgauskas again injured this season, Mihm manned the center spot. In the 17 games that Ilgauskas missed, Mihm averaged 10.8 points and 6.7 rebounds. In the past four games, Mihm has found himself in the starting lineup with Ilgauskas, now that starting power forward Michael Doleac is injured. Next to Ilgauskas, Mihm has averaged six points, but his rebounds have gone up to eight.

At UT, Mihm, who left college after his junior season, finished as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots (264) and second in rebounds (945) before earning NBA all-rookie second-team honors.

Since center Zydrunas Ilgauskas came back, your statistics have dipped a little bit. How effective can you be sharing time in the post with him? I don't know. You've got to be ready any time to play. I played some [power forward] before he came back, so I can play some there. I've been playing some power forward since Michael Doleac has been on the injured list. But we can work it out.

Because there is a shortage of good centers in the NBA, would you rather move to another team, so you and Ilgauskas can maximize your time and production? I don't think so. Since I've been playing some power forward, we can play together.

Did you pattern your game after anyone? I used to watch David Robinson when I was young. I really liked his agility.
