Kenyon Martin, the fiery forward of the New Jersey Nets, has been suspended for the second time in two weeks for a similar offense; hammering an opposition superstar late in the game.

Two weeks ago it was Utah Jazz forward Karl Malone for felt the force of the former first overall draft pick, and last night it Tracy McGrady of the Orlando Magic.  After Martin delivered the hard foul he also threw a punch at the All-Star, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension.

'When Martin came down, he brought both of his hands down on McGrady's head, and pulled McGrady to the court.  McGrady got up fuming and charged Martin, who reacted by throwing a punch with his right hand, although he did not connect. Both players had to be restrained by their teammates and coaches,' writes Liz Robbins of the New York Times.

"I saw Kenyon foul him; it was a hard foul," Scott said. "Then I saw McGrady go up and go after him. After that I really didn't see much because I just ran and grabbed Kenyon. I thought both guys threw a punch. I thought McGrady tried to throw a punch and I knew Kenyon retaliated. The referees made the right call."

"I know Kenyon is not a dirty player, but that was not a clean play," Orlando Coach Doc Rivers said. "That was a bad play. It wasn't called for, but it happened. We and Tracy have to do a better job of handling that."

The New Jersey players all offered their support for Martin, stating that he was only protecting himself (referring to McGrady charging at him), while Orlando players' thought differently, incinuating that perhaps Martin's foul was a statement.
