Clarence Weatherspoon was expected to return to the Knicks' lineup on Monday in SanAntonio.  But Marc Berman of the New York Post reports that after working too hard in practice in his excitement to get back in the lineup, Weatherspoon hurt his foot again so his return is being delayed.

Although GM Scott Layden wants to see Weatherspoon and Marcus Camby in the lineup at the same time before deciding on any trades, he is aggressively looking around.  Golden State's Marc Jackson is high on his list, although the Warrior's are mainly interested in season-ending contracts.  As reported earlier, the Knicks are also interested in Rasheed Wallace, and now reports conjure up the name of Gary Payton once again.

In a related article in the Post, George Willis talks about Allan Houston's performance relative to his contract.  He notes that while Houston is paid as if he is a dominant player, he clearly isn't one.

Willis observes the Knicks were forced to overpay Houston this summer out of fear he might bolt to Detroit.
