Brian Cardinal got two surprises Saturday -- one bad, one good.
The first surprise was that his alma mater, Purdue, lost to Michigan earlier in the day.
"I hope they still have a coach after that one," he said, referring to his former mentor, Gene Keady.
The second surprise brightened his day considerably. When he walked into the locker room, he saw that his uniform had been hung up.
For the first time this season, he was on the active roster. He replaces Rodney White, who sprained his left ankle in Houston on Thursday.
"It comes at a disappointing time because Rodney got hurt," Cardinal said. "But at the same time, I am excited to go out and be a part of the layup line and be a part of the huddle. And if I get a chance to play, I will try to help the team win."
