Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Center Patrick Ewing had thought he was ready to rejoin the Magic this weekend -- he has been on the injured list since Jan. 9 -- but 10 minutes into his first practice Friday, he was hobbling again.

Ewing had been out with a strain of his right Achilles' tendon, and the Magic had planned to activate him either Friday here or today in Memphis. Now it looks like it he could be out indefinitely.

The Magic  have scheduled him for magnetic resonance imaging Sunday when the team returns to Orlando.
