Maybe now we don't want him back.
It was a near quadruple-double for Michael Jordan on Saturday: 16 points, 12 rebounds, 14 missed shots and nine turnovers. It was "Air" Jordan all right?he lofted up several airballs as well.
Besides seeing Jordan on the United Center floor not wearing a Bulls uniform, the sad part for Chicago is he still was the best player on the floor. Jordan was wearing blue, and all of Chicago had to be feeling blue.
The Bulls' only network appearance of the season also seemed to make it clear why NBC gave up on the NBA. Jordan's Washington Wizards made fewer blunders than the Bulls, which was enough for a 77-69 Wizards win.
"We were lucky to win," Wizards coach Doug Collins conceded. "They played worse than we did."
Have you ever watched a 4th-grade basketball game? It was like that for much of the game, shots being taken that you hoped would at least reach the rim. The Bulls shot 16.7 percent in the first half. And then they were worse in the third quarter. Veteran Wizards assistant John Bach said it was the poorest shooting he'd ever seen in a basketball game, but Bach has only been associated with the NBA since 1948.
