It was the kind of spill that makes hearts skip a beat at the FleetCenter. No one likes to see any player have his feet taken out from under him and fall face-first to the hardwood. When it's Paul Pierce who tumbles, then rolls over in pain, it's doubly tough.
With 4 minutes 19 seconds left in the first quarter, Pierce was finishing a dunk when Keon Clark fell beneath him, accidentally taking out Pierce's legs. Pierce tried to cushion the fall with his arms, and in the process hurt his left wrist.
Though the injury hardly ended his night, he left the arena after the game wearing a soft cast on the wrist and will undergo X-rays today.
