John Denton of the Florida Today reports: The Magic have received interest from 18 groups since announcing the team was for sale. DeVos and team president Bob Vander Weide have yet to set the asking price for the franchise. But DeVos said he has been encouraged by the interest in the team.

"I hear there's a lot of interest," DeVos said before Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. "But we're still not going to give it away. The numbers have got to work."

In other Magic news, Orlando activated rookie guard Jeryl Sasser on Tuesday night, finally filling the roster spot that it had left open the past seven games. Veteran center Patrick Ewing still is hobbled by tendinitis in his calf and Achilles.

Orlando nearly signed forward Mark Strickland or center Leon Smith to a 10-day contract to fill the roster void. Instead, both players signed 10-day pacts with the Hawks.

"Orlando called, but I had already signed with the Hawks. They just missed me by a couple of hours," said Strickland, who started his fourth game with the Hawks on Monday. "I didn't have time to wait. Once a job comes along you have to take it."
