The Pistons punched in for work Wednesday night with energy, defense and the hot hand of Jerry Stackhouse. The result was an impressive 104-83 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves, one of the Western Conference's best.

The victory ended an eight-game winning streak by Minnesota (30-11) over the Pistons and got Detroit back to .500 at 20-20 before a Palace crowd of 14,623.

It was Minnesota's worst loss since a 102-76 setback to the Lakers on Dec. 1. The visitors were guilty of 24 turnovers, leading to 29 Detroit points, and shot 39 percent.

Stackhouse scored 40, the ninth time he has reached that mark in his career. Stackhouse shot 17-for-28, leading the Pistons to 51.8 percent shooting.
