Magic notes: Orlando is in the midst of its finest stretch of the season. Following Tuesday's 100-86 drubbing of Atlanta, the Magic have won nine of their last 13 games. As a result, Orlando is two games above .500 for just the second time in six weeks. . . . Tracy McGrady ranks in the NBA's top 40 in scoring (seventh), minutes played (33rd), assists (26th) and steals (38th). He had just nine points in limited playing time Tuesday night, but nearly missed his first triple double with eight rebounds and nine assists. . . . Pat Garrity has played very well since moving into the starting lineup eight games ago. He had a team-high 23 points in Tuesday's victory and is averaging 13.4 points and five rebounds in his last five games. . . . Orlando's game in Toronto on Sunday has been dropped by NBC and will now be televised locally by Sunshine Network. The game will start at 2:30 p.m. instead of 12:30 p.m. Heat notes: Miami has finally started to put it together after a dreadful start to the season. The Heat defeated Chicago 92-79 Tuesday for their sixth consecutive victory. It's Miami's longest winning streak in more than two seasons. Miami started the season by losing its first six home games and 12 of 14 overall. . . . Alonzo Mourning's has shown signs of becoming the dominant player he was before being diagnosed with a serious kidney disease. He's steadily increased his playing time to the point where he's now averaging 32 minutes a game. His scoring is down (15.3 ppg), but he's still fourth in the NBA in field goal percentage (52.7 percent), fifth in blocks (2.63) and tied for 17th in rebounding (8.4). . . . Eddie Jones and Brian Grant have been major disappointments since signing seven-year, $93 million contracts prior to last season. Jones' field goal percentage has dipped to 42.8 percent, while Grant's scoring (9.4) and rebounding (6.8) have fallen off dramatically. . . . Miami is 28th in the NBA in scoring, but second in points allowed. Conversely, Orlando is fifth in points scored and 25th in points allowed. Next for the Magic: 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Toronto Raptors (Sunshine Network)
