The Celtics didn't merely reach the All-Star break last night at the FleetCenter. They crash-landed on it.
The Celtics were run up, down and eventually out of their own building by the Sacramento Kings, who are so rich in talent they didn't miss their best player a bit in a 102-85 decision that was not nearly as close as the 17-point final margin would indicate.
First-time All-Star Peja Stojakovic collected 24 points to pick up the scoring slack in the absence of Chris Webber, a late scratch from the lineup with a stomach virus. But Stojakovic had an overabundance of support, beginning with center Vlade Divac, left off the Western Conference All-Star team as Shaquille O'Neal's backup for reasons unknown to anyone who watched him take apart the Celtics.
