ABOUT THE MAGIC: Orlando won the first game of the four-game season series 92-87 Jan. 24 at TD Waterhouse Centre, overcoming an 11-point third-quarter deficit with an aggressive trap. Orlando was torched for 18 first-half points by Eddie Jones, but behind the pesky defense of guard Darrell Armstrong, limited the Heat guard to 10 in the second half. The Magic forced 12 Heat turnovers in the second half. Despite Orlando?s victory, the Magic has lost 12 of the past 17 meetings. Center Patrick Ewing, who missed the previous 14 games with tendinitis in his right calf, was activated before Tuesday?s home game against the Knicks. Forward Grant Hill (ankle) is out for the season. Guard Jeryl Sasser (knee) also is on the injured list.
ABOUT THE HEAT: Despite going into its seven-day All-Star break off a 76-73 loss to Atlanta, the Heat has won 10 of its past 13. The Heat is 12-4 when scoring 90 or more points. Power forward Brian Grant is averaging 10.3 points and 10.2 rebounds over the past six games. Jones has converted at least one 3-pointer in the past 18 games. Guard Anthony Carter (hernia), forward Malik Allen (knee) and center Ernest Brown (hand) are on the injured list. Carter is expected to be activated before the game, with guard Mike James (virus) taking his place on the injured list.
OFF THE COURT: The game will be the 1,000th Heat regular-season broadcast for Spanish radio announcer Jose Paneda. Valentine?s Day flowers to the first 5,000 women.
