Lamond Murray and Wesley Person continue to play well for Coach John Lucas. Now is the time for the Cavs to trade one of them, as Thursday's deadline approaches. They don't play well together because neither is athletic or strong on defense. But a team (maybe Philadelphia) in the market for a shooter could be interested in one of them.
? I'd prefer to deal Murray, then give a long look at Ricky Davis at small forward. He has the athleticism and a dash of sizzle that this team needs. He's also a free agent at the end of the season, and the Cavs really need to figure out how much he is worth to them.
? Murray scores, and he can rebound when in the mood, but his indifference on defense is discouraging. And he doesn't score enough to make up for it. When he plays good teams, Murray seems to back away from physical defense, which is why he has struggled at times.
? Person at least tries to play defense most of the time, even if he's not very effective. His shooting this season is remarkable -- 51 percent from the field, 48 percent on 3-pointers.
? GM Jim Paxson picking up Brian Skinner and Davis from Miami for Chris Gatling was one of his better moves. Skinner has proven to be a useful backup big man.
? Lucas has done a nice job of keeping the Cavs hustling most games, even if they always don't play very smart.
? Don't you get tired of seeing Zydrunas Ilgauskas wandering 25 feet away from the basket? Why not post him inside, throw him the ball and either let him shoot or pass to an athletic player such as Jumaine Jones or Davis cutting to the basket?
? It's amazing how few turnovers are made by Andre Miller, given how much he handles the ball. And he averages 5.0 rebounds per game, outstanding for a point guard.
? I just thought Chris Mihm would show more this season. He is receiving a huge amount of court time, and it would be more than 26 per minutes each game if he could stay out of foul trouble. He still doesn't seem certain where he will find his shots on the court. He has been OK, averaging 9.0 points and 5.9 rebounds, but he has the ability to be a better player than that.
