Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: The playoff hopes of the Orlando Magic took a dive Saturday when it was announced that second-leading scorer Mike Miller would be out for three weeks with a deep bone bruise and a badly sprained left ankle.
Miller will be replaced in the starting lineup by veteran Monty Williams, who lacks the outside shot and athleticism of Miller, leaving the Magic without any depth in their backcourt.
Miller could go on the injured list as early as today, leading to the signing of a free-agent veteran guard to a 10-day contract or the activation of Jeryl Sasser.
"It's always devastating when you actually hear them say how long you're going to be out," Miller said after getting the results of his magnetic resonance imaging Saturday morning. "But I'm going to move in with [trainer] Teddy [Arzonico], and maybe we can speed this up."
Miller was injured in the first quarter of Friday's night's victory over Washington, which showed how much the Magic rely on his scoring. Without Miller, the Magic needed a career-high 50 points from Tracy McGrady to beat the Wizards.
