Chalk it up to what we?ll call ?Mavs Mystique.??
"What we need to do is spend some of our money to evaluate the officials like Cuban has done,?? says Sonics coach Nate McMillan, because ?ever since they've hired people to cover these officials, I haven't felt that we've gotten a fair game (against the Mavericks).??
What exactly is McMillan suggesting? That in Dallas? 119-108 victory on Monday that the Mavs got 119 points worth of biased calls ? and that the biased calls are the result of Cuban having intimidated the refs into favoring him?
This notion is not the single silliest position on the subject of what Cuban?s approach has wrought ? but it is tied for first place, tied with the parallel opposite position that Cuban?s approach results in anti-Mavs whistles. Also faulty is the idea that Cuban?s campaign is designed to benefit the Mavs. In fact, he simply wants to improve the level of the officials? work in a way that would benefit the NBA.
