Is Anthony Mason already wearing out his welcome in Milwaukee? While there is no doubt that Ray Allen, Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson jack up the majority of shots on the Bucks team, Mason has been seething. An All-Star last year in Miami, Mason struggled to land a contract this off season before Milwaukee threw him a lifeline, signing him to a four year contract. Now they know why he was unwanted.
Throughout his career Mason has been blunt and critical, his outspoken nature following him wherever he has gone. In Milwaukee in seasons past there was a softness feel in the locker room, although this didn?t stop the Bucks from coming within one game of the NBA Finals last season. This is why coach George Karl, who shares a hard-edged philosophy about the game with Mason, brought him in.
"As long as it's going to be allowed for us to play good basketball in the first 18 minutes and then people go off on their own, one-on-one, one-on-four, and there's nothing said about it or no repercussions from it, then we're going to go home in April,? said Mason. "The ball needs to move around. We've got a lot of talent on this team. We need to use it. Ain't no Big Three, Big Two, Big One. This is a team.?
Since Mason is the newcomer to the team Ray Allen believes it is Mason's responsibility to fit in with the freewheeling character of the Bucks, not the other way around.
