Charles Smith

San Antonio Spurs guard

The Fort Worth-Dallas area first caught a glimpse of Charles "Spiderman" Smith when he became a prep star at Dunbar, leading the Wildcats to a state title in 1993. When went on to star at New Mexico before spending years traveling from the Continental Basketball Association to leagues overseas to brief stints in the NBA. He spent some time with Miami and the Los Angeles Clippers but was unable to earn regular playing time.

This season with the Spurs has been different for Smith, who contributed heavily on the defensive end earlier in the season. An injury to small forward Bruce Bowen gave Smith a shot at a starting role, and he flourished. He averaged 12 points to help lead the Spurs to a 11-7 record with Bowen out.
