As they enter the final two games of the season, the Spurs are trying to balance their desire to win the Midwest Division title with their need to stay healthy, writes Johnny Ludden of the San Antonio Express News.
David Robinson sat out Saturday's victory over Memphis with a sore lower back after being injured Friday in Detroit. He received physical therapy on Sunday and the team is optimistic he will be able to play Tuesday or Wednesday if needed.
The Spurs and Dallas are tied for first place in the division with 56-24 records. But the Spurs hold the tie-breaker edge over the Mavericks, having beaten Dallas in three of the teams' four meetings this season.
The Spurs took Sunday off and will work out today. Though it's customary for the team to not practice following back-to-back games, Popovich has given the Spurs five days off in the past two weeks. He also has scaled back the scrimmaging during workouts.
