After 61/2 months and 80 games, the Spurs know only a little more about their postseason future than they did at the beginning of training camp. Heading into Monday night's late game between Seattle and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Spurs still had the opportunity to finish with the Western Conference's second, third or fourth seeds. Their possible opponents include everyone from Seattle to Utah to Minnesota to Portland.
Tim Duncan, however, has done his best to simplify matters.
"We have to win these two games," Duncan said, "and we'll face whoever is there."
This much is sure: If the Spurs beat Phoenix tonight and win at Utah on Wednesday, they will win the Midwest Division, secure the No. 2 seed and play the seventh seed, either Seattle or the Jazz, in the first round.
