The NBA requires three wins before declaring a victor in the first round of the playoffs.

Sacramento's Vlade Divac must have forgotten.

Moments after the top-seeded Kings escaped with an 89-86 win over the eighth-seeded Jazz in Saturday's Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series, Divac suggested Utah save everybody a lot of trouble and not bother showing up for the second game in the best-of-five series Tuesday night at Arco Arena.

"I think that was their best shot . . . and they didn't win," he said. "So they're done."

When reporters surrounded him at the Kings' practice facility Sunday, Divac hardly backed away from his earlier comments.

"I believe what I believe," he said. "And I believe we can beat them in this series. We're the better team."
