After playing seven minutes in Game 1, David Robinson's back tightened and he had to go to the locker room for treatment, reports Johnny Ludden of the San Antonio Express News.  He never returned to the Game.  And he probably won't return for Game 2.

Doctors have not agreed on a diagnosis of his current problem, which started with a tweak of his old back injury on April 12th.  The doctors will compare his MRI to previous ones he's had.

In the meantime, the Spurs will miss his presence, especially on defense.  Malik Rose will pick up most of his slack.  But, while Rose has better footspeed (which may be an advantage against the Sonics), he can't protect the rim from post players and layups like Robinson.  The Spurs will need the Admiral back to go deep in the playoffs.
