Guard Steve Francis has agreed to represent the Rockets at the May 19 draft lottery, the latest indication of his plans to remain with the team long-term.
"He may be good luck to move up in the draft," said Francis' agent, Jeff Fried. "He wants to win so badly. He's really competitive that way. Steve enjoys Houston and the people in Houston. This shows further support of the team and its future."
Rockets owner Leslie Alexander suggested Francis be asked to attend the lottery. Francis confirmed on Wednesday he would make the trip to New Jersey, but general manager Carroll Dawson said he needed no new statements about Francis' intentions.
"He's always been solid as far as the Rockets and the future goes," said Dawson, who represented the team at the past two lotteries. "I never thought that was in question."
