New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd became the franchise's first All-NBA selection Wednesday, while the Jazz's Karl Malone was among "others receiving votes," marking the first time since his rookie season that he failed to at least make the All-NBA third team.

Malone was on the third team in 2001. He was on the first team for a record 11 seasons (1989-99) and made the second team three other times -- beginning in 1987, his second season in the league. Malone received one first-team vote this year, but ranked 19th overall.

Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan tied as the top vote-getters on the All-NBA first team, chosen by 126 news media members in the United States and Canada.
