It was just one of those days for the Dallas Mavericks, one where you wish you never got out of bed.  Before the series against the Sacramento Kings had even started they suffered their first injury; a broken thumb to forward Eduardo Najera.

The second year forward, expected to be the Mavs primary option defensively on All-Star Chris Webber, was going for a lay up in warm ups when an errant pass bashed his thumb some two hours before the game.  That, reported Marc Stein of the Dallas Morning News, forced the second-year forward to heavily tape the thumb on his shooting hand and dunk it in a cup of ice after the game.

"It was just an accident," Najera said. "But I'm going to adjust to it. Obviously, I don't put up that many shots. I just have to go out and rebound and play defense. And when I have an open shot, take it."

Najera still started the same and played 18 minutes, but only seven in the second half.
