Despite having a stellar season with the New Jersey Nets from both an individual and team perspective, Jason Kidd is no closer to committing to the organization.

"This year has no impact on what I'm going to do," said Kidd. "This year completely ? Finals, winning the championship ? has nothing to do with me re-signing here or not. I have the luxury to wait and play it out.?

"You never know what happens next year," Kidd added. "You just don't know."

Kidd, who can opt out of his contract after next season, has said he will talk with Tim Duncan of the Spurs to discuss their futures.  He has always maintained that he will opt out next season and has also said he?d love to play with a big man.  The Nets can offer the superstar the most money out of all teams, barring a sign and trade of course.

"He has publicly stated that he's interested in playing for a team that has a chance to compete at the highest level, so obviously if we can compete at the highest level, I would think that he would certainly look at (the situation in New Jersey)," said Nets president Rod Thorn. "He likes the coaches and the players here, and when that time comes, I think he would certainly look at it favorably."
