Michael Pointer of the Indianapolis Star is reporting that the NCAA will enforce its outside-participation rule that penalizes those who play in games at the camp -- which is not approved by the governing body -- and decide to withdraw from the NBA draft by the June 19 deadline. Players who have not signed with an agent and return to school next season would sit out an equal number of games they played in at the camp.

"It's just as much a shock to me as it is to you," said Purdue basketball coach Gene Keady. "I'm not sure what we're going to do yet."

NCAA spokeswoman Jane Jankowski said the organization announced it was implementing the rule in the May 13 issue of The NCAA News, and the decision was recommended by the NCAA?s basketball issues committee which also includes many coaches.

"I certainly can understand, given the publication of this a couple of weeks ago, why (the announcement's timing) is a concern," Jankowski said. "But this is something that has been a topic of discussion."
