Here are some potential deals the Magic could make:

Try for a blockbuster by using Mike Miller, Steven Hunter, this year's pick and possibly some future picks for an established well-known veteran. Best-case scenario: Paging Antonio McDyess!

Package the No. 18 pick with future first-round picks (the Magic have seven over the next four years) for a serviceable-but-not-great veteran who could provide immediate impact. Best-case scenario: Think of a player with a skill level similar to Cleveland's Tyrone Hill.

Use some combination of Miller, Hunter or Pat Garrity and this year's pick to move up in this draft. Best-case scenario: An athletic big man such as Drew Gooden would look awfully good in Magic colors if a trade partner would fall for it.

Trade out of this draft and get a future first-round pick, save cap room for 2003 and look toward a temporary fix in this year's free agency. Best-case scenario: The two Grants (Grant Hill and Horace Grant) come back, a free agent such as Charles Oakley is brought in and the team improves with a few tweaks and because of familiarity.
